The main character of this book Perdu, sells books from a barge. He is able to offer recommendations to anyone that comes in his shop. His recommendations heal the people that he gives them to. However, Perdu is hurting himself. He lost his first love over 20 years ago and has never really recovered. Perdu ends up going on a journey (on his barge!) to discover himself and to reclaim his life. Each character in this story has their own backstory that is revealed piece by piece. The dialogue of this book is fantastic and I wish I could be friends with the people in this book! I (of course!) loved all the book love in this novel as well. If you enjoy books that have self-discovery and learning to live your life, then add this one to your list!
